
New season is beginning! YC Labud and SC Mornar are slowly filling up with representatives from numerous European countries. Today on schedule was registration, while tomorrow is first day of racing at the AOC Open Croatian Championship and Split Olympic Sailing Week. According to unofficial information in front of Split harbor, for the next couple of days, there will be app. 160 sailors from 19 countries, a new record for the SOSW. Final entry list will be known tomorrow morning.
Introduction to regatta was Croatian Sailing Federation's awards ceremony held today where the most successful sailors and coaches in past year were handed out prizes. Last year results were impressive and the fact that Croatian sailing is breaking records for the third year in a row gives us the reason to be optimistic in this, Olympic, year. To that fact Croatian sailing federation's president Marijan Hanžeković spoke today:
-„ We all are expecting first medal at the Olympic games. I believe that we have a chance to attain that long awaited goal in four disciplines. We are doing all so that our Olympians have the best conditions and Federation must do everything so that they have everything needed to achieve best results. With conditioning and knowledge, luck is also important, there are no great deeds without luck, I hope luck will be on our side at the Olympic games.“
