The tenth anniversary edition of the international sailing regatta Split Olympic Sailing Week started, on Sunday, and the fleet, on the first day of the Olympic classes regatta completed two races . So right from at the start of the four-day competition Gods smiled on the fleet of seventy sailors from twelve countries and gave them a 12-15 knots of maestral.
In less than two hours they sailed two races at the race area in front of the Ciovo , and the most successful were local sailors.
Among the largest fleet, that of laser standards , consisting of 28 sailors , dominated and showed quality that ensures him the first place ranking in the ISAF 's list, once again Tonci Stipanovic. Member of Split's Mornar celebrated in both races - ahead of Poland's Kacper Zieminskog in the first race, and Italian Marco Gallo in the second race.
- After Palma de Mallorca, the race of the World Cup, I have not trained for a week instead I sailed in Easter regatta as a crew member of Janske X. Today I enjoyed racing, I sailed well. Everything was going great for me as far as the speed of the rest on the racing area I am pleased and ready for tomorrow races - said Tonci Stipanovic , while cleaning the boat in the Mornar's hangar after returning from the sea.
The crew from Trogir Ante Botica and Jure Vuletic , were convincingly fastest in both races among class 470 in the first race, followed by Turks Sebahattin Torah Kutoglu and Abdullah Baglica, while in the second race number two position behind our boys had guys from Hungary Botond Margitics and Aaron Serka.
In the Finn class , convincingly first was our best helmsman Ivan Kljakovic - Gaspic , a member of the regatta's host club Labud, triumphant in both races ahead of his club colleague Nenad Bulgarian who today had two second places .
As for the Laser Radial the current world champion Tina Mihelic (Labud) celebrated in the first race ahead of Eva - Marie Schimak from Austria , while the second race victory took 15 -year-old member of the Mornar Sandra Lulic, ahead of Tina Mihelic .
In the Radial men's competition, fastest was Toma Stipanovic , Mornar's sailor who finished ahead of Labud's Toni Busic , while in the second race finish at the finish was Miro Zelic , also member of host club of this international competition . He is followed by Mario Novak, a member of Split .
On the first day of sailing at the 10th SOSW an event held until Wednesday, Croatian sailors shown themselves as rude hosts by taking all the points at the start of racing. How will the foreigners handle the third race, which is scheduled to start on Monday at 12 am, remains to be seen.
