Alen Kustić, Born: 23.04.1965
Status: International race officer (sailing),
Work: race management  and web design

Sailing experience: Started at age of 6 in Optimist and participated at first official regatta at age of seven. Sailed Optimist, Cadet as a crew, again Optimist, 420, 470 and finally Laser.
National champion in Optimist, 420 , Laser and keel boat.

As a sailor what did you enjoy /dislike: I enjoyed being on the water no matter where in Croatia or far away from home. As a child I enjoyed cruising on my father’s sailing yacht especially with sails and mostly i was on helm. Such a great experience to be able to compete with a big boat as a skipper and then to revert  to small dinghy and compete on high level we use to have in Split in seventies when I started sailing. I disliked a lot unfair sailing – today things are much better with on the water judging.

Alen Kustic, VZS president within CSF, has informed us that our regatta Split Olympic Sailing week has been appointed 2 international judges (one from Holland and one from Belgium) at the EUROSAF meeting held on Malta. Regatta has been appointed the judges in the first round thus confirming its importance is recognized not only with the sailors but with the judges as well.

Dear sailors,

We are 100 days away from the start of yet another largest Croatian regatta for Olympic classes, SOSW 2011.
Preparations are well under way and we believe that the response will be even greater that previous years.
Regatta will definitely be held on two separate areas regardless of the possibility of low attendance in some classes.
So we grantee the highest regatta standard on water as well on land!

Marianne_MiddelthonOne of the best sailing judges, according to many the best, Marianne Middelthon, has agreed to be jury chairman at the Split Olympic Sailing Week 2011.
Marianne Middelthon has impressive CV, as she was member of the jury at the Olympic Games at the Sydney, Athens and Beijing as well as one of the jury chairman at the last three America's Cups. She was also the member of the jury at more than 80 various World Championships and 25 ISAF World Cup regattas.
Karlo Kuret ( project manager): I would like to thank Marianne Middelthon for accepting to chair the jury at our regatta. This adds another dimension to the SOSW regatta and shows that this year YC Labud organization will raise the bar even higher.
